This employment opportunity is being recruited by Rady Children's Hospital-San Diego on behalf of Children's Specialists of San Diego.
Under general supervision, Biomechanical Engineer is responsible for conducting biomechanical research projects while designing, developing, and testing all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. Participates in all aspects of research, including conception, literature review, data collection and analysis. Responsible for developing, maintaining, utilizing and improving hardware and software systems and processes used in both biomechanical testing and in vivo studies. Modifies systems and processes to increase efficiency, quality of data, and researcher/research contractor satisfaction. Participates in educational and professional conferences and activities. Trains and mentors engineering students, interns and volunteers, while assisting orthopedic surgeons, residents and fellows in the collection and processing of clinical and biomechanical research data.
Master's Degree in Biomedical, Biomechanical and/or Mechanical Engineering or related field
Minimum of one year of experience in biomechanics research, prefereably in orthopedics at this institution
Experience in MatLab, LabView, VB.NET, or similar programming languages
Experience with biohazardous materials
Experience with hardware, firmware and software integration
Experience in applied research and clinically based science
Machine Stop experience
Material Testing experience
Strong written communication skills
Three-dimensional modeling experience
