Position Summary and Responsibilities

General Overview

This position requires high energy and a willingness to make process improvements based on data and investigation. Working under general supervision, the individual will conduct methodical reviews of existing processes in order to improve quality, consistency of the build processes, throughput, and lead times. Experience in adhesives, bond preparation, molding and urethane, neoprene is a plus. This position will provide troubleshooting,process review, documentation, and training support to the productionfloor. This includes mold and tooling design, including the ability to review existing molds and/or mold flow analysis data in order to recommend mold/gating improvements to reduce defects. This position will ensure that product quality is maintained, while minimizing production and test costs, support new product introductions by working with the design engineers and other manufacturing engineers to develop documentation, fixtures, BOMs and processes that ensure product quality and manufacturability.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Reviews existing processes, evaluates for efficacy and efficiency and makes improvements as needed.

  • Develops efficient ways to use people, machines, materials, information, and energy to improve products, processes, and services.

  • Standardizes processes throughout production.

  • Designs methods to ensure product quality.

  • Assists manufacturing associates and technicians with production issues and troubleshoots processes.

  • Performs mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing process quality and determines production costs.

  • Designs, implements, and trains associates and technicians in new methods, products, tooling, work instructions, etc.

  • Implements "Lean" techniques and processes into Operations and throughout the organization.

  • Evaluates effects of product design changes and challenges engineering designs when required.

  • Supports, problem solves, and creates better methods, processes, and tooling in bonding & potting work centers.

  • May required limited travel to attain related training and/or review processes at vendor sites and various corporate locations.

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or similar discipline plus a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in process engineering in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience in process design, troubleshooting and refinement within an electromechanical test environment.

  • Working knowledge of electro-mechanical assembly with polyurethane, neoprene, and/or epoxy molding

  • Strong computer and technical skills with competency in Microsoft Office.

  • Experience in molding materials, processes and tooling.

  • Experience in process improvement for reduction in waste, reduction in cost and/ or improvement in control.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience in writing assembly/test procedures.

  • Experience with Solidworks a plus.

  • Experience with MRP/ERP systems is a plus.
