The Network Team designs, acquires, configures, installs and manages all corporate networks for General Atomics and Affiliates. We utilize the latest routing and switching equipment and protocols from Cisco, Pulse Secure VPN, and also have a large Aruba wireless installation. We have a strong team environment, a great set of tools, and a solid network.
We currently have a need for an experienced Network Technician to join our team. This role will be based in Torrey Pines, and will also spend time at our Poway location.
DUTIES & RESONSIBILITIES:
Transport, install, troubleshoot, configure, network equipment, including switches, routers, UPS systems, batteries, wifi controllers, and the like.
Maintain tidy and accurate spare network equipment warehouse in two locations.
Using templates, configure network equipment to specification.
Decommission and “sanitize” old network equipment.
Order and maintain stock of standard network components, including transceivers, fiber optics cables, and other equipment.
Occasional travel to other GA locations, such as the high desert or beyond.
Participate in on-call rotation.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Typically requires an Associate's degree in information technology or a related field along with three or more years of experience working with network equipment and systems. Equivalent professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
CCNA preferred, but not required.
Experience with fiber optics and cabling desired.
Ability to lift up to 60 lbs UPS components.
Must have a clean driving record.
Must demonstrate a solid understanding of network equipment and systems procedures and practices.
Must be able to interpret and explain moderately complex information, establish priorities and respond to routine and non-routine issues or situations that require evaluation and interpretation.
Must be customer focused and possess: (1) the ability to coordinate work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates; (2) the ability to communicate and interface effectively with all levels of personnel, (3) excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report findings to a variety of audiences; (4) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; and (5) excellent computer skills.
The ability to work both independently and in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
