What Requirements Engineering contributes to CareFusion
Requirements Engineering is involved in the different phases of the product development lifecycle: from eliciting product requirements via voice of customer activities, creating functional specifications, up to supporting product implementation activities.

Accountabilities in this role
Eliciting Voice of Customer (VOC)
The requirements analyst in this position assists in gathering input from several sources to ensure that the resulting feature is what the users expect. The analyst must have some presentation skills or is willing to hone said skills.
Perform pre-VOC analysis on assigned functional areas to identify the level of information required to elicit input from customers
Create, or coordinate the creation of, artifacts that will be used for the VOC (e.g. wireframes, screens, prototypes, scenarios, etc.).
Assess and incorporate information gathered during the VOC to the feature/function requirements and specifications.
Orient new hires and mentors team members as needed.
Contribute to the creation of training materials to support on-boarding and training new hires.
Creating requirements and specifications
The analyst must be able to translate identified user needs into high quality, testable, requirements and specifications.
Understand users’ workflow processes in medication dispensing, variations, and what factors influence them.
Identify and measure non-value-added steps within both clinical and operational workflows and decision making.
Knowledgeable of all phases of the software production cycle
Analyze problems involving cross-disciplinary aspects of the product development process, and synthesize multiple disciplinary solutions.
Work on concurrent features/projects
Ensure timely delivery and quality execution of assigned deliverables
Ability to shift priorities without impact to the timeliness and quality of deliverables
Create and maintain artifacts (models, diagrams, documents), clarifying requirements, and analyzing use cases and dependencies to functional specifications to support hardware and software development for assigned features/projects.
Provide cross-functional areas with accurate, complete and unambiguous requirements information to help them make critical decisions to execute on their deliverables.
Support program management, software engineers, and SQA to facilitate understanding of user requirements.
Validate that the software is implemented to match the functional specifications
Ensure that established internal standards and requirements are used in the maintenance and development of design control documentation.
Develop enough familiarity with the capabilities of all the products within the team’s domain to be able to take on any assigned project.
Assist in the validation and confirmation of product and/or system requirements. Validation could occur through organization of user groups, surveys or 1-on-1 customer meetings as examples.
Comprehend how various technologies interact and impact each other, and identify how system-level synergies can drive greater customer value.
Participate in usability studies and simulated use validation.
Participate in risk assessment activities as needed
Identify opportunities for process improvement
Training and Issue Resolution
Present features and functionality to cross-functional teams.
Create and maintain feature and functionality training artifacts.
Research and review assigned functional questions, enhancement follow-up or production issues.
Bachelor's degree in related field required
4+ years related work experience
Experience with healthcare information technology systems.
Can travel (approximately 20%)
Has relevant clinical or operational experience within healthcare and an understanding of the clinical or operational needs, workflow, usability, etc. required for developing new products
Holds a degree or equivalent training in Nursing or Pharmacy Informatics and/or prior senior level manager for a material management department within a health system with experience in contracting, purchasing, inventory and logistical/supply chain management.
Holds a degree or equivalent training in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Requirements Engineering, System Engineering, and/or Information Systems. The successful candidate for this position needs to have the following abilities:
Ability to train and coach others
To communicate with Development Testing, QA, and Operations areas on a regular basis to ensure accurate understanding of functional requirements, impact analyses, and release schedules and to help coordinate work estimates.
Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, coupled with excellent verbal and written communications.
